The Honorable Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, Secretary of Tourism, Mexico, this year’s one of the two keynote speakers, arrived in Tokyo early in the morning of September 20, which was the day of a large-scale earthquake which occurred near Mexico City. After a 6-hour stay in Tokyo, he returned to Mexico by the afternoon flight.  On the opening day, September 21, his keynote speech was read by Chief of Tourism Minister’s Office on his behalf.  All the participants in the convention hall gave a silent prayer to the disaster victims of the Mexico earthquake before his speech.
